Big Surprise: Crysis 2 will make PS3’s Explode!

Posted on 6/06/2009 by Kris Nguyen

Over a century ago, SCE’s Kaz Hirai revealed to the world that it could possibly take game developers nine years, or most of the PS3’s projected lifespan, to learn how to optimize the hardware of the PS3. Of course, he did exaggerate a bit, but here’s a snippet of information that should be interesting. According to Crytek’s Cevat Yerli, Crytek has supposedly pushed the black beast to its limits with Crysis 2.

"The interesting thing is we did run a performance analysis on the PS3 devkit, and you know the funny thing is the occupation on all the CPUs, the Cell and the GPUs, is pretty much –- the needle is at the limit,” the executive told Gamasutra.

For console gamers, this is a win-win situation. We get the amazing game in all its graphical allure without the need for expensive gigawhat’s and megawho’s.
